TheElmer Singley, South Sacramento fire
commissioner, estimated the loss at
$35,000.
The blaze started at about 12:40 A.M.
and spread rapidly.  Singley said the
flames were so intense by the time the
South Sacramento and Fruit Ridge
volunteer departments arrived, the
building could not be saved.
The firemen however,continued to fight
the blaze for two hours before it was
extinguished.  The building, kilns and
pottery were destroyed.
The firm manufactured jars and crocks.
